AC/DC's Phil Rudd - FULL METAL ORCHESTRA - Back In Black (Live at Spark Arena 2025)

Despite health issues (a heart attack several years ago), and other things that have been well documented so no need to revisit it, here; Phil still sounds like Phil. Rock Solid.

I have pointed out before that he is using his mid 90's Stain Red Designer Toms with a Black SQ2 bass drum. I THINK he sold his black Designers to help fund his (late?) partner's treatment a hear and a half or two years ago, but I never saw that it actually sold. Lot's of mystery surrounding this guy.

Aside from apparently forgetting where he put his old bass drum, he is using wooden ProMark sticks instead of the Ahead sticks he used for eons, including custom built butt end sticks crafted only for him. I can't remember him ever NOT using a butt end in the snare hand. I wonder if he couldn't get his hands on any, or if the regular drumsticks feel better at this point in life. He is 71 years old now and hasn't exactly taken good care of himself.

He has always been an icon to me, and AC/DC KNOWS they aren't the same without him. Such an astutely business minded band bringing him back as many times as they did was a solid testament to that. I have given up on an interview with him in part because I have exhausted most reasonable efforts to get in touch with him, but also his speech is so laid back and low that I would be stressed over actually being able to understand him to carry on a flowing conversation.

At any rate, here he is recently, and I think there is another show tomorrow.
