Remo white coating: Has it been improved at some point?

I am not getting it all over my cymbals.

Remo white coating: Has it been improved at some point?

Post by Jules »

A dislike I used to have with Remo coated heads was getting the coating on my stick tips and cymbals. Doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. Did they make an improvement? What are your experiences with them?

Thanks for coming!

I've been using Remo heads for the past six years with zero issues. In comparison, 100% of the Evans heads I've received attached to drums I've bought have all left their inner coating stuck to the bearing edges of the drums which has always been a pain to remove. I've never had issues getting the coating stuck on my sticks though!

I guess that has been a non-issue with Remo for a ling time. But, I haven't really used any of their coated heads in many years. I have had the same issue you describe with Evans. Didn't really think much of it until you mentioned it.

Thanks for coming!

I've been using Remo, pretty much exclusively, for about the last 20 years or so... I've not run into that with any coated head from them myself.

I haven't played much in the past 6 years or so, but before that I played Remo almost exclusively for 35 years...and don't recall ever getting the white coating on cymbals. And I played primarily the coated Ambassador, Emperor and Powerstroke heads. I just don't recall it ever being an issue. I will say that the few times I played Evans over the years I was disappointed--the coating didn't seem to last as long. Might have been my imagination, but I always ended up going back to Remo stuff--primarily their coated heads.
