For me, the single most thing I tend to be fussy about is the ride cymbal.
I am pretty good at getting the desired sounds at all of the drums, and crash cymbal-wise, I like something shimmery without harsh overtones
The ride is where I am really anal. I like a strong ping and very controlled wash with clarifying all along the profile of the cymbal. I have gotten lucky in recent years after substantial online sound files and research.
