SQ2 lead times

Post by drummermark »

Saw this recent post from DCP stating that lede times for new order SQ2 are "about 6 months". Just found that to be interesting and good news for anyone on the fence about ordering a new kit because of the build time. When I ordered mine in Aug 2025, dealer quoted me 10-12 months. Last I spoke with them, they said Sonor relayed to them to expect a possible late April, early May delivery. Will that be the case? Well, the only date that will hold true is when the boxes show up at my house. Question of curiosity, do some dealers get preference as far as lead time or is it the same for everyone?

That could make the choice between a Momentum and an SQ2 lean more towards the SQ2 for someone who doesn't "need it right away"...

Sq2 - Med Beech, Rosewood finish - 10/12/14/16/18/22 + 6.5x14
Performer - Wine Red, 12/13/16/22 + 6.5x14 (D456)
Phonic - Oak, 13/14/16/22

Agree. Whenever it may be that I get another kit, unless a dealer has one on the floor that I absolutely fall in love with, I can wait the 6 months.

I slightly giggle at all this...

In New Zealand, I waited 9 months for a Pearl Decade Maple, because I wanted it with the 8" and 14" tom add-ons.

My Vintage Series was 11 months.

My Hardcase order is closer to two years than one.

Quickest turn around I've had recently was the four Sucherman crashes which was five months.

Been through that wait more than once already and I'll agree, unless they have something on the floor that demands my credit card makes it come home with me right then (lookin' at you Mike Gallus... ), I have no problem waiting 6+ months for that level of quality, especially when the kit's the sizes, shells, and finish(es) I want. 8-)

Too the USA 3 of those 6 months must be shipping and customs. I have no idea what the wait time is here in the EU.

I dont know Sonor took 3 weeks to answer a simple email question recently, so i wont even bother asking them what the wait time is. (but i guess they probably prefer you to ask through your local dealer)

I wonder how long it would take for an SQ2 snare drum (not an entire kit).

I would guess it makes no difference and SQ2 are just built in order of when the order is taken (unless they have a specific section that works on just snares)

It’s not the EU, but FWIW, Sonor Ukraine officially quoted me 3-4 months for an SQ2 order, although the rep told me possibly more like 2-3 months.
