In the case of the Phil Rudd Signature snare drum, the retail model wasn't quite on par with what he was touring with. Phil was touring with Hellas on his. Also, I ordered replacement lugs for a PR snare and the model number was not only specific to the PR drum, but "Phil Rudd" was in the actual nomenclature of the part on the bags. I don't know what all was different, but the casting itself was slightly different and maybe the plating wasn't the same.

Point is that the actual drums DC was playing when he did play them, may not have been the retail models. I haven't dug in to the part numbers on those.

Wasn’t the DC suppose to be a top of the hat to his 590?

I owned that snare and really hated it. Put Hellas on it, tried different wires, various head combinations and it still sounded aweful. It didn’t last nearly as long as the Rudd or the Steve Smith signature drums which all came out around the same time and are both fine snares.

Imho the Danny C Sig is a dud and should be avoided.

It's funny how these things seem to have such high value when anyone who's played a few different Sonor snares seems to rate it as the worst Sonor drum they've ever played.
