Very interesting. I am not sure if it is really greed or not. He ended up with two, and wanted to tuck one away as an investment, and decided to go ahead and offer it for sale. I get it. Sounds like something I would do. If someone decides to put the snatch on it at that price; they probably aren't living on poverty and this certainly isn't in the category of food, shelter, and clothing.
I deliberately overprice things on Reverb fr a few reasons other than the 8+% fees. I want plenty of fat so there is room to negotiate, but also, if someone wants something, I want them motivated to contact me and lots of time it becomes a trade situation which can be mutually advantageous. That may seen potentially irrelevant, here, but the point is that he DOES have the MAKE OFFER option on this listing, so someone offering a more price closer to reasonable may have a shot at it.
Just my 3 cents worth.

I will add that he has it listed as Brand New. Reverb classifies Brand New items as items being sold by an Authorized Dealer, which he is not. I don’t know what Sonor’s language in their written warranty is, but it is a common practice that the warranty does not transfer beyond the original owner. That could potentially be a headache in the very unlikely event that a problem arose.

If the item itself is still in the original plastic unopenedJules wrote: Sun May 11, 2025 12:46 pm I will add that he has it listed as Brand New. Here’s the problem with a private seller that’s a not a shop claiming something is “brand new”
The term "brand new" typically implies the new product comes with a warranty from the manufacturer. A warranty is a promise or guarantee made by the seller or manufacturer that the product is free from defects for a certain period.
Is a private seller gonna be able to offer a manufacturers warranty?
No you’re not.
The proper term for a private seller to use for an item that is pristine and still in an unopened box would be
Mint
A private seller should never use the term “brand new” because they can not offer the manufacturers warranty which comes with items you buy “brand new” at a shop.
And a quick google search returns the following:
“Sonor drum warranties are generally not transferable to subsequent owners. The warranty is typically limited to the original retail purchaser. This means if you buy a Sonor drum set used, you will not be able to claim the factory warranty, even if the original owner still had warranty coverage remaining.”
