Reverb, eBay, or Sweetwater Gear Exchange?

Post by Jules »

I used to be on eBay when I had my dealership. Occasionally, I buy things from there but haven't listed on there in some time, although I think I have a few pieces that would do better at auction than on Reverb.

Reverb is generally my go-to. Slightly better fees, and I just typically like the format better.

I have sold several things on Sweetwater Gear Exchange, but that was more when I was buying lots of gear and I could use the funds to make a new gear purchase without paying fees from the sale of my merchandise (or something like that).

I think I will post some things on Sweetwater's site and see if they do better than Reverb. I have had a number of things on Reverb for a while and I think they have just gone stale. Even when I run a major sale, nothing seems to move.

EVENTUALLY, I am going to invest the money needed to get the DRUMANDSTAGE Sonor Marketplace software upgraded. It will be far more feature rich than it is now, and then we can get aggressive about using and promoting it.

What's your 2cent's worth?

Thanks for coming!

I like your idea of Sonor Marketplace. You do a wonderful job of running this site. IMO, it would be great if you do it. Just want to thank you for what you are doing.

I would concur with a Sonor marketplace! That would make it easier to access gear from European sellers. When I was originally looking to fill out my Force 2000 kit I had to get the additional toms from Europe and only found the F3K metal snare on a sales site after it got forwarded to me from a German Sonor enthusiast on one of the many FB Sonor forums.

For used stuff (or just hunting for a deal) I'll usually hit Reverb first, as most of the shops I prefer to do business with (Twin Cities Drum Collective, Mike's Drum Shop, etc) are listed there. From there, I'll expand out to Ebay, Music Go Round, and even Guitar Center's web sites. I've also had surprisingly good luck searching Craigslist nation-wide.

None of these are Sonor specific to or Sonor specific, so it's a lot of searches and manually sifting through the results.

Sq2 - Med Beech, Rosewood finish - 10/12/14/16/18/22 + 6.5x14
Performer - Wine Red, 12/13/16/22 + 6.5x14 (D456)
Phonic - Oak, 13/14/16/22
