Gretsch used to send out old literature with some of their US made drums. There was a piece of literature (and maybe it was reproduction) from the 60's or 70's (maybe) that stated that they made like 98% of the pairs in house. I may have the 98% wrong, but it was high enough that I surmised that they made everything except for standard hardware items, like screws, washers, nuts, bolts, etc. Now, of course they MAKE nothing. They finish and assemble everything from parts and shells made elsewhere. I am referring to the US made drums, mind you.
Does anyone know when Gretsch actually built its own components?
