DRUMANDSTAGE branded snare drums...

Would you buy one to support the brand?

Post Reply

Would you consider buying DRUMANDSTAGE branded snare drums, or other related items?

I have no interest in anything that isn't Sonor

I am very fussy about my snare drum collection and would not buy something that I wasn't sure of.

I would buy a mid line DRUMANDSTAGE snare drum to support the brand and add another option to my collection

I would seriously consider an upper midline ($1,000 +/-) DRUMANDSTAGE snare drum if it was high quality, unique and added a new flavor and option to my arsenal

I would be interested in lower priced DRUMANDSTAGE items (sticks, percussion items, merch, etc.) to support the brand.

DRUMANDSTAGE branded snare drums...

Post by Jules »

I have been contacted by an Asian company with the idea of some unique seamless acrylic snare drums. I need to find ways to make this site and the YouTube channel at marginally profitable, or at least pay for themselves.

It think the idea MAY be plausible. If I were to do anything like this it would only be with quality built in. Not cheap stencil drums with a DRUMANDSTAGE logo.

I also have an idea for a more high end snare model that would be USA built and I could have them built to order instead of making an investment.

Please feel free to choose all the options that apply, and comment with any opinions and suggestions that you have.

The big problem with any lower-priced items these days is postage. Anytime I have looked at buying a merch item from the USA and getting it to europe the postage is more than the cost of a t-shirt

In short, no.

When I buy a drum, I look at its resale value closely, and will only commit to anything which costs a decent amount if it's intended to be kept for a loooooong time, negating any value loss, or it's something which is very resalable at any point. For items that don't fall into that, they need to be cheap enough that the cash is considered gone. I don't see any cheap snare drum actually offering me something which would contribute to the sounds I have, so buying even a cheap drum would basically be giving you the cash for nothing.

And respectfully, I'm not going to do that.

On any other merch, depends what it is I guess, but again, respectfully, the logo works well from a 'immediately identifiable' point of view, but the 'A-Team' vibe font isn't something I'd wear or display in its own right as it simply isn't my style at all.

Just for clarity, the idea behind the font is stenciling on a road case that has a nominal amount of scratches from use. As has been the case with some of my own over the years.

This was the first King Kong Kase I bought, back in 1993 for my Sonor D-500 reissue.

Under the other paint is:

Julian Rouse
Nick Fallin Band
Albany, GA U.S.A (which was totally necessary because we were on. a world tour of the neighboring counties)

THIS was the furthest thing from my mind:

Oh I get it, I also thought of tour case stenciling, it's just not a font that lends itself to merch in my opinion. Instantly recognisable (which so few logos are) but at the same time, I wouldn't wear it on a shirt.

And for clarity, I wouldn't wear any brand with that font on a shirt. I'm not even sure I'd wear a shirt with Sonor on it, though the twin mallets, especially the old 60's version, I probably would. Also, I openly admit to being a design/art nerd/snob so...
