Zildjian Platinum cymbals. Did you have any?

Did you ever have any, or play some that belonged to a friend or at the store? I never did and I thought they were really cool looking, but never opted to buy any.

Here is a video comparison which I submit is a very flawed comparison.

The era correct non-brilliant finish has a significant patina and wouldn't sound identical to its clean self. Also, Turkish cymbals typically sound a bit different even comparing similar models/sizes, etc., so I don't really see any actual value in the comparison.

Thanks for coming!

Played on a few briefly in the late 80's/early 90's - from what I remember, they were only only slightly brighter but otherwise identical to the regular brilliant finish version of the same size/models.

Had a friend in Florida about 20 years ago used them exclusively, as he particularly liked the look on stage. At that time he said they were already getting harder and harder to find...

Sq2 - Med Beech, Rosewood finish - 10/12/14/16/18/22 + 6.5x14
Performer - Wine Red, 12/13/16/22 + 6.5x14 (D456)
Phonic - Oak, 13/14/16/22

I used all brilliant K's and A's from '86 through the early 00's and still have a few, but I never tried the platnums.

Over the last 5 years i've been picking up various drums/cymbals I wanted as a kid, i'd like to add a platinum to the collection, but any that come up for sale are priced higher than I really want one.

There is a pair of 14" new beat hats @ €275 negotiable that have been for sale oct 16th in Germany.

I find watching items that are for sale and not selling to be an interesting eye opener of how desirable at what price some things are

I had a pair of Platinum New Beats, a Rock Ride a I think a medium crash that I had purchased from my first drum teacher in the late 80s. I was a kid so more interested in the look and didn’t understand the nuances of sound yet. My dad loved them cause it meant I stopped using his set of Zildjians.

SQ2 Heavy Beech African Marble 10x8, 12x8, 16x16, 22x16, 14x5.5
AQ2 Stage Titanium Quartz
