Memory Locks for BA-TB

Post by Jules »

If you look at the photo (or the actual part in person), there is a notch in the plastic similar to the notch used for memory locks anywhere else on Sonor hardware. In fact, I can't thunk of any other reason for the notch. But, I haven't seen any Sonor memory locks with this small of a diameter, but maybe I am missing something. The slides into the 3/4" pipe, so the 19mm will not work.

Does anyone have any insight?

I wondered about this a few years ago and asked Sam I Am if they existed and he said no.

They must have planned to make them, just couldn't justify the tooling I assume.

Anyone put a caliper on the upper tube part of that assembly (the 190 243 01 part) to get the exact measurement?

I don't have that assembly, so I can can't check it myself.

There may be another company's memory locks that might work.

Sq2 - Med Beech, Rosewood finish - 10/12/14/16/18/22 + 6.5x14
Performer - Wine Red, 12/13/16/22 + 6.5x14 (D456)
Phonic - Oak, 13/14/16/22

Only because it's been confirmed that Sonor doesn't have the solution... :(

My hardware case is long enough that I don't have to shorten the boom arms when I tear down, so I don't need memory locks on them.

Same. I was thinking more in terms of safeties. They tighten firmly , but I have trust issues. lol

Jules - you are a bad influence... I just ordered 2 of these over the weekend, so I'll check with my caliper when they come in.

FYI - I was planning on getting some anyways, this discussion just prompted me to bump them up on my priorities/timeframe...
