Force 2000/3000/Maple Parts.

Post by Jules »

Force 2000/3000/Maple Parts.

I have the following parts. They need to be cleaned up and photographed, but if there isn't any interest in them, I am not going to waste my time.

I have hoops/lugs and some tension rods for 12", 13" 16" toms. There was only one length of toms per size to the best of my knowledge. I DO NOT think these are a proper fit for HiLite drums. I also have lugs for the 22" Bass Drum

I also have several Force 2000 Badges and 14X6.5 snare drums in Red and Black MINUS the throw-offs. I will sell the snare drums as complete as they are or harvest them for parts.

If you have a need for any of this, I will clean up a few pieces and we can talk price. If we are on the same page, we can work out the details and go from there.

Just looked at this thread now Jules - did Sonor seriously do different lengths between the mounting posts for Hilte vs 2000/3000? If so, man they really didn't care about profits at all back then hey?

They weren't the same lugs. The HiLite lugs were actual tubes pressed into machined fittings on each end. Very high quality. The Force X000 lugs were cast and the backs of the tubes were hollow with cross members added for strength.

Some folks aren't going to appreciate my opinion and will disagree, but the Force 2000/3000/Maple hardware parts were pretty cheaply done. Floor tom legs brackets, tom mounts and the lugs were thin walled and not solidly built chunks of metal like the higher end parts of the time.

I completely agree on that, though I know that there was some overlap, principally on smaller toms - my 8" Hilite has hollow back lugs (though I wish it didn't) and I know when the plating went wrong on a lug for the 15RT, Hohner sent him a hollow back lug in a size which didn't fit anything. He argued that one and eventually got the right part from them.

I'm led to believe hollow back lugs appeared on at least 8, 10 and 12" Hilite rack toms.

Dave, they MAY have converted to hollow backs across the board in later production. Seems like I knew that a long time ago, but I wouldn't count it as fact without verification.

The plating on the Force 2000 et al., was inferior, too. I bet there were different part numbers for the shorter HiLite lugs if for no other reason than differences in chrome plating.
