A little light on Sonor content in context of some of the other brands, but nice to know Shane has a Sonor on order... Wonder what that will be like. His last DW was quite a unique order.
He is trying to develop a liking for DW. It doesn’t really seem to be working. When I worked there, there wasn’t a DW guy in the house. Several Sonor fanatics, a few Tama guys and a Ludwig guy. I am leaving a few out, but if you walk in there without any idea of what you want, you won’t leave with a DW.
That got a belly laugh... ![]()
I ordered my Dunnett titanium through DCP and the grand plan was to collect it at the store in person. Then COVID happened... The drum is lovely, but the visit to DCP is still outstanding.
Very much enjoyed the watch!
I found his insights into the tuning range of the Gretsch bronze versus the Tama Bell Brass, and then the comments about the current Yamaha Recording Customs really insightful. They're the kinds of pros and cons I wish we heard more of in their videos. I understand that each of their demo videos has to be on the whole positive as they're probably among the most obvious adverts for most manufacturers, and therefore you don't wanna risk damaging your relationship with the suppliers, but those pros and cons are what we need to hear as buyers.
Agreed, Dave. I have some product reviews upcoming, and while I expect to have mostly positive findings, I like that I can be objective in a way a dealer or endorser may not feel like they can be. That said, I generally tend to think highly of what the company is doing these days and don't anticipate not liking something I buy. I think we are in the golden age of musical instruments, in general, and I think that Sonor is doing things better than ever in many ways.
