Designer Snare Drums… and their amazing finishes

I bought a batch of Designer Drums late last year and have been going through them one by one here and there.
Something truly astonishing about these drums that isn’t mentioned as often as things like the shell construction and great hardware is the quality and durability of the finishes.
Many of these drums were heavily toured, and I expected them to have considerable scratches scuffs and wear in the shells, but that hasn’t been the case. Very minor ding here and there on a few of them, but for 30/35 year old drums they look really fresh once I go through them.
