From the video description:

In late winter 2012, Sonor discovered the potential of traditional Japanese musical instruments, and the CEO at the time, Karl-Heinz Menzel, visited the Mishimaya Musical Instrument Workshop in Niigata. "Can we combine the traditional Japanese drum hollowing method, the finest wood native to Japan, and Sonor's technical capabilities to create a special instrument?" Sonor embarked on a new endeavor. They specially ordered various tree species from within Japan and sent the prototype bodies to Germany. Sonor also went through repeated trial and error, and finally arrived at this "Keyaki -KEYAKI WOOD-" snare drum.

All of the keyaki logs are first-class products carefully selected by the owner of Mishimaya Musical Instrument Shop, Kyoichi Yamada. Only keyaki wood over 100 years old from the cold regions of northern Japan, which was mainly felled for the "Keyaki-KEYAKI WOOD-" snare drum, is used.

I have one of these and it's a brilliant drum.

I believe (so far) only 10 of the 6.5" were made. I'd love to get my hands on one.
