Wondering about the story behind the 6" tom on Tals Hilite kit. Someone
should do an interview!

I asked Buz King, who was the Sonor Product Manager for a number of years at Hohner/HSS about this. They did build a few 6's over the years. They didn't have a 6" mold machine so they may have bought tubes and cut them down (like is done with tambourine production). Todd Sucherman got 6's with his SQ2's and those are outsourced and quite a bit thicker shells than the rest of his rig.
As to Tal, I have not gotten responses from him lately. I will add this to my list when/if I do hear back from him. I don't think he would know about the production end, but I would like to know if he had to ask for them to build that, or if they sent him stuff they had in the particular series and color he asked for.
Maybe I should do a separate video about how endorsers end up with their particular gear. Ron Wikso had a tone of 90's gear and it wasn't a matter of custom orders. That interview is worth a watch.
