Interesting change in designation.
For many years, Fender has run a factory they build in Mexico about 180 miles south of their Corona CA plant. Actually, many guitarists maintain the Made in Mexico (MIM) models are made better than their more pricy US made counterpart.
Interestingly (to me) is that instead of saying Made in Mexico, they now are printed with Made in Ensenada, though the serial numbers still start with "M" for Mexico.

It’s due to branding consistency after a CA law required the company to move away from made in USA.
“Fender has updated its branding to say "Made in Ensenada" instead of "Made in Mexico" on many models, such as the Player II series, to be more specific about the factory location, similar to how American models now state "Corona, California" rather than just "USA".
This shift reflects a move towards greater manufacturing transparency and highlights the specific facility, which has been established in Ensenada, Baja California, for over 35 years.”
