Now it's your turn...

I'm not sure what that says about what's coming personally?

I got a bit of a "Sonor surprise" today myself: My 12" vintage-series tom arrived, somewhat unexpectedly! I knew it was coming to me from the dealer today--but I did not know that it was getting to the dealer two days ago. When I ordered it like 6-8 weeks ago, they told me 5-7 months. It wasn't even half of that, and as far as I know...they had to build this one. The 18" floor tom turned out to be in-stock here in the US warehouse (last one present), but they were out of the 12" drums, so this one had to be made I'm told.

It will be good to have the "complete" kit when I try to sell it in order to buy the reintroduced S Classix kit next month!

My guess is the US just got a large shipment of gear from Germany, you know to include all the new stuff announced this weekend. The 12" tom will have been in stock in Germany and just thrown in the container.

I know for instance Australia's Sonor shipment was held back to make sure all this new stuff was in it. ETA late Nov/early Dec there.

I guess I'll just have to settle for this gnarly-old Vintage-series kit for a couple of years, until I order an SQ2 kit with thin birch FT shells, and somewhat thicker rack toms.

Meanwhile, sacrifices will have to be made...

To be totally honest, I hope it's NOT a revised version of the S Classix! I just got all these drums and can't really afford to do anything else for a couple of years, lol.

I guess this is it, the new series is called Momentum.

I condensed this from from the site:

  • maple, birch, or beech, 9-ply (6mm) shell construction on all drums. Available in an elegant semi gloss veneer, sleek matte lacquers or timeless high-quality Delmar wrap - red Pearl (wrap), Satin Pure White (matte lacquer), GT Black (matte lacquer), and California Burl (semi gloss veneer) ProLite T.A.R. tom mounts and our advanced Sound Sustainer system from SQ1 on floor toms

https://www.sonor.com/drums/instruments/momentum-series

Interesting depths on the drums, lots of quarter inches!
BD's: 18x14.25. 20x15.25, 22x17.25
Toms: 8x7, 10x7.75, 12x8.5, 13x9.25, 14x13.25, 16x15.25 and 18x16.75
Snares: 14x5.75 and 6.5.

So.... is SQ1 gone, and Prolite too?
