The cottonwood artist snare had used regular diecast hoops for years. They do look like hella hoops to me. If there is no stamp, then they are not made by Hella.
HELLA hoops made by beatello?
Since when?

But how to differentiate ?
The Die Cast hoops on my Hilite snare (HD500) have the Hella logo cast into the underside of the hoop.
Other than that, I'm not sure how to visually tell the difference while the hoops are on the drum other than the large snare gates on the older hoops..
Sq2 - Med Beech, Rosewood finish - 10/12/14/16/18/22 + 6.5x14
Performer - Wine Red, 12/13/16/22 + 6.5x14 (D456)
Phonic - Oak, 13/14/16/22

Edit.. I think you were referring to how to tell the difference if the other "Hella" hoops are copies and yeah not sure how to do that.

I THINK we have two different things going on, here. If I am understanding correctly, the debate isn't over the two hoop types in the picture, but between Hellas made by Hella and Hellas NOT made by Hella.

Wonder if these are from decommissioned molds. The current reso side hoops from Sonor have a void to allow for the snare strap or chord to lay freely.
