Mike Gallus (Mike's Drum Shop in Chicago)

Happened to be in the Chicago area over Memorial Day weekend, and stopped in (2nd time there) and met Mike in person.

I initially went in with the intent of picking up an aluminum Kompressor, and left with both that and the 4pc Oak Phonic kit he had on the floor...

Despite the modest size of the shop, Mike carries a very impressive selection of drums. I would say over 1/3 were Sonor, both new and used, which is the largest selection of Sonor I've seen "on the floor" in any shop in 20+ years. He's also very passionate and knowledgeable about them and great to chat with.

I don't think I have had any dealings with Mike, yet other than to ask him to do an interview (it may be my turn to return communication, come to think of it), but I know he has been a serious Sonor guy for a long time. As someone who enjoys going through Sonor gear, I have dealt with dealers who treat it like a portfolio brand (which is to say, just one of the many brands they offer) and then I have dealt with (and been) a dealer who have a specific passion for Sonor Drums. Mike is certainly in the latter group.

Yes he is. And with the contact/presense in the Chicago music scene he has, I'm certain he has more than a few stories to share
