SQ2 holds the high ground and is the benchmark that other high end offers are often compared against imho

Most USA customers have no experience with Sonor. I started playing in elementary school band and played all the way through college. Never heard of Sonor until I was much older. When I started reading up on them I was intrigued with the undersized shell. Once I ordered and obtained the SQ2 and the Prolite, I realized they truly were not only different, but better in many ways.
I think the lack of marketing and the fact that the product sells itself pretty much speaks volumes. I don't think the company wants to get big, they want to keep the product quality where it is and go slow. Many companies could learn from this.

I would say "Somewhat Underrated".
Here in the US, it seems that most people who shop at actual drum shops are at least aware of Sonor and their reputation as a "Premium brand". Even then, many don't seem to know much more than that unless they're a Sonor fan, as they're not nearly as common as the other higher quality brands.
People hitting the more general music stores (Guitar Center, Sam Ash, local shops, etc) don't seem to be familiar with the brand unless their shops regularly stock Sonor kits, and even that will be the AQ- lines and not the higher-end models that Sonor's built their reputation on.
