How do you arrange your crash cymbals around the set?

Todd Sucherman posted a video on Facebook today showing that he goes smaller to large from left to right to have descending pitches as with the toms.

How do YOU decide what cymbal goes where?

As for my personal tastes, I do that to a degree, except the cymbal just to the left of my tom tom is usually the one with the best finesse at lower volumes, but capable of really opening up with more powerful strikes. It tens to be my main crash and the others are there for more pitches and flavors.

I generally only use 2 crashes in my setup but I can’t think of a time where I didn’t have a smaller diameter cymbals to my left and larger to the right.

yeah, pretty much following the toms of Smallest to largest following Left to Right.

Same here: In the past it's been 16, 17, 18 or 17, 18, 19 L to R. Now it's just 17 or 18 and 19.

Why the downsizing? I haven't had as many crashes in recent years, as I used to, either.

When I quit using an 8" tom about 4 years ago, I went to one less crash too.
