150th Anniversary product ideas.

Post by krusher74 »

I thought I would start a fun thread for ideas for 150th items that Sonor could have made, items that you might have bought yourself if they had made them or items you think would have been a good seller

I will start with the "obvious" t-shirt, sweatshirt, cap, beanie, keyring/drumkey that Sonor dont seem to be making!

150 limited edition 14/5.5 kompressors with a sheet bronze (possibly hammer finish) shell and 150th badge, with bronze sonor snare wire.

limited edition 150th beech drumsticks, (I'm not sure if beech is a wood that's usable for drumsticks, but EU brands Rohema and Agnar both seem to produce some form of sticks with beech)

An embroidered varsity jacket like Zildjian produced in the 90's

I will also add a poll on how much you would have realistically spent on 150th items, given the production of something you wanted.

:) keith.

I am saying $500 or less since your focus appears to be non-drum items. Between $200/$300 would probably be my range. If only...

I don't know why you have inferred "my focus appears to be non-drum items" that is not my intent. This covers all and any 150th anniversary items. if a person clicked over $5k in the poll, i don't think we would be expecting them to buy $5k of t-shirts.

I can't edit the poll title. If you would like to edit it to "merchandise items and all drums" please do so. (and correct my spelling mistake)

No editing needed. You articulated yourself, I don’t know where I drew my swag focus. Too many things going on at the moment I suppose.

I'd much prefer anything celebrating a milestone anniversary like this were something which would last and have long term meaning. So for me, t-shirts are nice and all but you'll have worn it out in 12 months.

My choice (over actual instruments) would have been a small run coffee table book covering the history (think half way between Klaus Ruple's history book and the Signature Series bible). I'd also have bought a set of 'fine art' prints too, ideally numbered. From a different world entirely, but a few years back Porsche started a 'lifestyle' magazine offshoot called Type 7 which produces annual volumes of stories and small run branded items and it works really, really well for them. They did a book which is just art photography and design from the Porsche archives which I bought and will treasure forever. That but for Sonor and their historic drums, people and artists? Bingo.

The book I speak of

This wouldn't necessarily hit the price range you mentioned, but offering Kompressor snares drums with Dual Glide system and Hellas would have provoked some immediate sales from me. Maybe doing chrome over brass Kompressors for the limited run.

Offer the ProLite and Artist series snares in limited run finishes/different hardware colors.
