Pictures from Music City...

Post by Jules »

Not exactly a real benefit to taking my own pictures. These are far less quality than the professional ones Sonor has released. But, since I was there...

The drums are gorgeous. The AQ2s OF COURSE have replica veneers, as they are a budget conscious series. These are absolutely glorious in person. The engineered ebony veneer was totally stunning and the high gloss finish was perfect. FACTS.

Curious what you thought of the 590 now you've seen it in person?

In time, I’m gonna be very sorry I did not grab one.

If you had bought one

Would you gig it

Or

Leave it in the box to maximize resale value?

Good question...

Well, I have learned with this artist Bronze that I do have the discipline to leave something unplayed. That snare drum would not appeal to me for gigging for the sheer weight and the fact that the hardware is plated in 24 carat gold.

This may be something that would be a show piece in my home. (?) It's a gorgeous work of art. If I have a home studio ever again, it could certainly serve there. All that said, it would certainly be subject to sit in an unopened box. I was going to buy a Gretsch 140th anniversary set when I was on my Gretsch tangent and those sets were released. But the Gretsch defect level was/is so high, I didn't want to sell a 10 year old (one day) defect drum set in an unopened box. And wet I talk about a high defect rate, I mean my own gear, not just what I heard about others buying Gretsch.

Either way, I have closed the doors for any of this by letting them all slide by. And buying one of the 'flips' available in Europe just isn't the same in my mind, since technically they aren't "new" if you aren't buying them from an authorized dealer.

Yes I was lucky to get mine via Europe from a proper dealer, before all the flipping prices were listed. Cost the same as it would have done to buy it here had our dealers been able to get one.
