Snare Battle! DW True Cast vs Sonor Cast Artist Bronze

Post by Jules »

I am not, and don't expect to ever be a DW fan. And, I LOVE whenever the crowd favors Sonor! I have watched several of this guy's comparison videos and frequently se things I don't like about how he has compared, tuned or whatever. But, our team wins this one, so who cares about the details. lol

Thanks for coming!

There's one UK dealer who shall remain nameless who semi-famously refers to the Artist Bronze as 'the best snare in the shop' but obviously can't say that publicly without riling up all the other brands they sell...

It should still have Hellas though.

I plan to eventually try a set on mine. I had a pair but sold them last week in a pretty large deal.

Actually, come to think of it, I have 6 snares for sell with Hellas. I may grab the ones back off the Delite. It doesn't want to sell, apparently. If I like the Bronze with the Chrome Hellas, I will get the black chrome later. I have yet to take my Bronze out of the plastic bag, yet.

Not sure I’m following. Are you saying the artist bronze hoops are not Hellas?

Correct. None of the Artist series drums have Hellas.

Artist hoops are more generic weight hoops (left) Hellas are much chunkier (right)

Yes. But, I don’t think those were ever original equipment on the Artist Bronze.

Thanks for coming!

I'll say it til my ears fall off, the correct spec for these drums is chrome hardware and Hellas. That way you can give the thing death without worrying about chipping the black nickel/copper/gold and it has the full fat hoops.

It's such a shame Shane's DCP spec drums aren't how they're all sent out the factory.
