Designer 12" maple lite snare

Post by krusher74 »

I have been looking to add a designer snare to my collection for a long time, but what I have seen in the past has either been too similar to something I already have or too expensive. i see many come up for 700/1200 euro and sit for sale for months. Maybe they sell or maybe the seller gives up, but I don't bother to contact a seller if I think my offer would be a lot lower than their asking price, as that never seems to work out.

Anyways, recently, a 12"/5 maple light in birdeye maple veneer came up for sale, I paid 400euro for the drum, including postage from Germany to Ireland.

It came with 7 new tune safe's in a bag and and brand new remo ambassador head. For some reason, it came with a starclassic snare wire, I have already changed out the batter head to a remo control sound coated and puresound wire, which I already had.

I also already owned a designer SS57 snare stand. Interestingly, the snare basket does not adjust small enough to hold the 12" snare.

Can anybody help with two questions? What years is the drum? and is the stand pre-designed 12" snare and does a later designer snare stand then work with a 12"? you can see in the first picture that when the basket is as small as it goes and the drum is on 2 feet, it does not even reach the third rubber foot.

Thanks for adding the pics bellow Jules.

You can upload using the attachments tab. I have it set for large files, too. Your post is fine here. I am not going to be legalistic about the site. I also haven't finished with getting certain things as squared away a they eventually will. Just playing it all by ear until I get a good feel. :)

I forgot to look I was thinking it was to new for that.

I can barely read it through the snare head, I think its 706 but the 6 is the hard bit to read, so it could be 2006 last year.

I know some designer badges had screws, and some were just stuck on, but I don't know what year those changes relate to.

Strangely my Hilites don't have date stamps.
