I have been using ChatGPT for informational deep dives, lately. The results are much more of a deep dive than a "Google search". BUT, the search results are still based on information gleaned from the internet.
My personal experience, so far, is that the information is as accurate and recent as the sources.
But you have to be mindful of the sources. In regards to Sonor and questions regarding current production practices and locations, results frequently come up from Sonormuseum.com
Lots of things have changed since that site was last updated, and some of the information doesn't reflect current realities. This isn't a slam to the Sonormuseum, I am simply pointing out that AI is going to try to draw out information regardless of the obscurity of the question.
Anyone who knows Shane Kinney, or much about Shane Kinney (owner of Drum Center of Portsmouth) knows that he has a special place in his heart for Sonor. The first drum set he sold after opening DCP was an SQ2, as a matter of fact. Recently, I was doing some research and wanted to make a point to someone and when to ChatGPT and asked what Shane's favorite brand of drums is. The answer? Well, the sole source of information is from Sonormuseum, specifically from me interviewing Shane in 2009! Here is that result:

So just a heads up; AI can be good for giving you great results from a slew of current online resources, but be wary of the sources and recency of the information.
