Losing Momentum... when does a Sonor series get the ax?

Post by Jules »

I know this is subject to debate and some series may have overstayed their welcome in the proverbial catalog, while others were replaced by upgraded models, etc.

An example of the latter would obviously be Designer Series. SQ2 was an updated in both product, and ability to configure such products.

Looking back over the years, which series of Sonor drums do you feel stayed in production too long, or didn't get to run their full course?

As to the current catalog, even though Vintage Series is nearing 11 years in production, they maintain a very strong mainstay of many Sonor Artists and consumers. I would HOPE that in a few more years they would update the line with all new finishes, while really leaving everything else as is. That said, I don't necessarily represent the core group of Sonor owners. But, I could certainly get excited about a new rig in a few years. I tend to go through gear somewhat frequently and unless I get an SQ2, there is nowhere else to go, unless I want to go with a cannon sized Momentum bass drum, which really isn't my thing these days.
