Explaining Sonor to Other Drummers — Your Go-To Points?

Post by Jules »

When you’re chatting with other drummers and Sonor comes up, what do you usually mention?
Do you lean toward:
🏛 History (150+ years, German roots)
🧪 Engineering & Shell Design
🥁 Sound & Feel
⚙️ Hardware quality
🎨 Finishes & craftsmanship
🧑‍🎤 Artists who play Sonor
🔬 Innovation
❤️ Or just how they feel behind the kit?
What’s the one thing that makes other drummers go
“Okay… now I get it.”

10"X9" SQ2 Heavy Birch White Sparkle Tom - For eventual interment
New Rig Coming 2026 (Details TBD)

1) They're designed properly, not by marketing.
2) They're built properly and won't fall apart unlike many, many other options.
3) They stay in tune.
4) The craftsmanship, especially on the fancier German stuff is literally second to none.
5) They sound insane.
6) Quality, quality and more quality.
7) John Good's snake oil has never been anywhere near them.

I would agree heartily on these points, especially with the German made stuff. #'1-5 are specific examples of how they achieve #6.

Sq2 - Med Beech, Rosewood finish - 10/12/14/16/18/22 + 6.5x14
Performer - Wine Red, 12/13/16/22 + 6.5x14 (D456)
Phonic - Oak, 13/14/16/22
