What’s a Sonor Release That Missed the Mark?

🎯 What’s a Sonor Release That Missed the Mark? 🥁

Every company with a long history has huge wins… and a few ideas that didn’t quite land the way they hoped.

Sonor has built some of the most respected drums in the world — but not every product, series, or concept became a classic.

So let’s talk about it (respectfully and thoughtfully):

What’s a Sonor release that, in your opinion, missed the mark?

Maybe it was:

  • A shell design that didn’t catch on

  • A hardware concept that felt overcomplicated

  • A finish or aesthetic that didn’t resonate

  • A series that disappeared quickly

  • A price-to-value mismatch

  • An innovation that sounded great on paper but didn’t translate in the real world

Was the issue:
tone?
weight?
features?
marketing?
timing in the market?

Or was it actually a good idea that just arrived at the wrong moment?

This isn’t about bashing — it’s about looking at Sonor’s history and discussing the experiments that didn’t become long-term successes.

Sometimes the “misses” are just as interesting as the hits.

I was keen on the idea of getting a Prolite kit in blue sparkle but the availability of that finish compared to others within that line of drums vanished rather quickly for some reason. I guess it didn't hit the mark for them.
