Nostalgia: Do you regret selling any Sonor gear?

Post by Jules »

For myself, if there was a piece of Sonor gear I wish I had kept from the beginning it would be the D-500 Reissue I bought new in 1993. It was a magical snare drum, coupled with the fact that it was first piece of Sonor gear I ever owned. I originally sold it to the drummer in a local band and neither he, nor the crew knew a single thing about care and maintenance of drum gear. I ended up getting it back, but certainly not in pristine condition.

I would up selling it to someone in Belgium on eBay. There have been a few times that I have sold something, regretted it and got it back, just to resell it again. I'm just not one to get attached to things, I guess.

I hated selling my first 'real' snare drum I ever got. It was a D505 purchased back in 1983 and I sold it a decade later down in New Orleans. I wish I hadn't but that was a looong time ago. When I first got the drum I engraved initials and the year 1983 on the inside of the shell.
I've always wondered where it ended up in this world.

I regretted selling a D-506 five years ago, so when I saw one with Hellas on eBay a couple of years ago, I got it. I have no regrets about selling my Bubinga Sigs or Rosewood Lites as I wasn't playing them much and wanted to pass them along to someone who would. After I sold each of them, I was down to 3 Sonor kits and told myself that was enough until I bought a Rosewood Vintage Series a couple of months ago...

Scandi Birch Sonorlites 22, 20, 10, 12, 14, 16
Impala Lacquer BumWrap Designer Orphans 22, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16
African Marble Beech SQ2 22, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16
Rosewood Vintage Series 22, 10, 13, 16
LD 547x, D-506, 6.5 x 14 Vintage
