Reminds me of Steve Smith’s back in the day set.
I only saw Steve Smith at a live show once, but I think he had a set of Phonics then. I think it was sort of a sunburst kit? But man, this was back in the 1980s though, so my memory isn't entirely clear. I don't think it was his "Captured" kit though--I remember the color being darker. I also remember them being one of the best-sounding kits I'd ever heard. Same when I heard Bill Gibson's Phonic kit, later in the 80s. There I literally stood on the stage within 5-6 feet of him banging around on them. Then we stood at the edge of the stage when those guys did their sound check.
