"Set" design for Music City Drum Show - NEED SUGGESTIONS...

Post by Jules »

I will have a 10X10 booth next July, and I am getting ideas together for how I want to set it up.

I can rent a table and chairs by the item, and while that seems silly when I can bring the items myself, I actually think I may rent them for two reasons. 1) Why not spend a few extra dollars to support the venue/event (the costs of everything else like travel, lodging, food and other things I have to get make the rental fees negligible) AND, having less to pack into a car and load in and out amongst all the other exhibitors would be great.

The back to back rows of booths are separated by pipe and drape and nothing may be attached thereto. I don't think that an elaborate backdrop will be advantageous, and so far I just plan to use something that will serve as a banner with the DRUMANDSTAGE logo around or over the table.

I haven't given any thought yet to any sort of handouts or anything, and am not sure how they would even be beneficial. I am not selling anything and what the channel is all about is only going to be of interest to Sonor drummers (I am across from the Sonor booth).

My vision for someone passing by is simple: as they walk by, there is a large screen TV playing episodes of Sonor Talk in rotation (from an external drive, not via a wifi connection), I will be there to talk to anyone that seems interested. For anyone that is an owner or Sonor gear; Artist or otherwise connected to Sonor, I will have an interview area set up within the boundaries of the booth.

For this I will have on microphone (Rode Reporter Microphone) and it will be going into an interface and into whatever device I ultimately use for capturing the video and audio.

Devices I have and plan to use:
iMac
Mac Mini (with large TV/Monitor and sound bar - yet to be procured)
iPad (may not be ideal in any capacity

I haven't received by Exhibitor agreement yet, so there may be some rules in place that I have to work around once I get that. At the beginning of each hour, there is a quiet time. I will TRY to wait until these periods for the interviews but if I have a Sonor Artist on hand and it's now or never, I am going to record when I have the opportunity. The quite time MAY impact the use of the video feed, I am not sure.

I want a professional looking area that isn't cumbersome to load in and out of. I will get whatever signage and other appointments as needed for this. I want a set up that is solid; I don't want the TV knocked over and it needs to be a TV (or monitor) that is large enough and will not be knocked over and that will not cut out when someone approaches or the lights flicker, etc.

I may see if ChatGPT can help me build up some 2D models, but I really want the ideas of anyone with a vision of how this should look and be executed.

Opinions are requested and appreciated.
