Sonor Birch 14"X7.25" Left Handed Birch Snare Drum (Mikkey Dee - Modified) - True Black

Post by Jules »

This was an old stock Mikkey Dee snare drum. I wasn't fond of the wrap so I took it off. I used Minwax True Black stain inside and out. Inside because I didn't plug the holes and it dripped all into the inside of the shell while I was doing the outside.

NOTE: There is NO topcoat. Use Tung oil or your favorite stuff to protect this finish. This is not a perfectly done stain job, but what we have here is going to be a great sounding share drum with a pretty unique look. I need to cash out as much as I can on this and my other items for sale, but everything is negotiable, especially on multiple items.

About the drum: This started out as a stock Mikkey Dee snare drum. This 14" x 7.25" Snare Drum features Mikkey's favorite shell construction, a 6-ply Birch shell. A shell that is known for its wide tuning range, powerful mids and highs, and well balanced low end. Due the the arrangement of the original graphics, the badge was on the back side, hence my joking that it is a left handed snare drum. If you put the badge toward the audience, the throw is on the right!

Truthfully, despite the fact that this drum has been modified, and not necessarily optimally, (you can see the outer ply seem behind the butt plate) this is going to be a really fun drum to own). And there is dust on the black stain that I didn't try very hard to remove. I can even include the can of black stain if you want to go over it again before you spray it, or rub on a finish. Thanks for looking and considering. Your purchase would be sincerely appreciated.
