Ride cymbal placement...

Post by Jules »

This may seem like a trivial or even silly question, but let me tell you where I am at with this.

Right now, I have a 20" Paiste Duo ride and it is over the bass drum where a 2nd tom would be, if I used one. It's easily accessible from a playability standpoint, it is in a great location. But, in my current/temporary playing situation, I don't have a monitor and it is not feasible to add one at this time in this particular situation. So I am reliant on a sound from a floor monitor placed at the front of the stage and my ride cymbal over powers the modest volume coming from that monitor. It is also not an option to crank that monitor for a few reasons.

So, I am considering moving the ride cymbal to my right. It's a simple fix and will not hinder my playing. The only reason I am getting feelers on here is that one of you may have had a similar situation in the past and found another work-around for it. I would like to hear all opinions.
