Dennis Wilson (The Beach Boys) – Drum Brands Timeline
Early–Mid 1960s: Camco
His primary endorsement during the Beach Boys’ peak touring years. Most famously associated with Blue Moiré Camco kits.
Mid–Late 1960s: Rogers
Also played Rogers kits live during this period, often linked with the Dynasonic snare.
Late 1960s–Early 1970s: Zickos
Used clear acrylic Zickos drums when acrylic kits became popular for live performance.
Various Periods: Ludwig
Occasionally seen using Ludwig drums in live and touring situations.
Later Career: Yamaha
Associated with Yamaha kits in his later years.
With The Beach Boys being the epitome of Americana in the 80's (Playing Washington DC for several years on the 4th of July, for example), I wonder why he went with a Japanese drum company. I wonder if Bobby Figueroa was the one with the endorsement and gear. Dennis was pretty strung out by then, and judging from the concert clips I recently watched from that period I am not sure if he was even in a position to care what the gear was.
