I think that I only tried Remo on the kit that I had too. I've had some great results though with both Evans and Aquarian heads on my 70's Phonics. So much so that I would recommend trying them. As many of you know, these are somewhat fragile and once something breaks (usually the threads) it's a real pain as there's no modern replacement. I thought the new 'Vintage' brackets might work as the drilling is very close, but no.
