Re: New Sonor stuff... what are you hoping or expecting?

Also the shell sizes may work, we‘ll have to wait on that. Usually I‘m also a fan of more shallow sizes on toms, but sometimes you get the vibe that Sonor decided on these sizes just for the sake of being different.

Re: New Sonor stuff... what are you hoping or expecting?

I guess for most people the medium shell are the best option, but somehow it‘s pretty lame you now only got one shell thickness option. The Prolite and SQ1 made the series Sonor offers more divers. Now it‘s pretty much all the same to me and the only way to get something different is SQ2.

The ...

Re: New Sonor stuff... what are you hoping or expecting?

Tbh I‘m not a fan of this new series.

At least I can still order SQ1 stuff over the next three years.

Re: New Sonor stuff... what are you hoping or expecting?

My dealer told me that I made the right choice with buying the SQ1, whatever that means regarding the news. He can‘t tell me what‘s coming, but told me it should not bother me.

Re: Tom Depths: Old School or Shallow?

I‘ll always go for

8x6 / 8x7
10x7 / 10x8
12x8 / 12x9
14x13 / 14x14
16x15 / 16x16

They sound the best to me and I can position them the way I want to set up my drums.

Re: Inspired By Lars: TAMA Imperialstar 7-Piece Double Bass Drum Set With Black Nickel Hardware Electric Yellow

There was the real limited kit earlier this year, but people complained about the price. Now they make a affordable version with the shells they got and people complain about other stuff. You can‘t make it right for everyone. Also this version has some upgrades compared to the normal Imperialstar ...

Re: What do you use for muffling?

I usually dislike muffling on my toms and snares, but sometimes floor toms ring a bit to long for my taste. Right now I‘m using the M1 on the 14“ and the M80 on the 16“. For the bassdrum I use a Pearl Bassdrumpillow.

I love the overtones of snares, I mostly use 1ply heads to get the maximum natural ...

It's B. Less than a $1,200 USD difference to get the Sonor flagship line made in Germany.

What do I get? 😂

SQ2 are not that bad in price if you don‘t go for the pricey veneers inside and outside.

Re: What is important to you when choosing a dealer?

I pretty much stay loyal to my dealer that I had for forever, although that means that I pay a bit more on stuff like heads etc. But I rather support a independently owend drum store than a huge company.

My dealer also already knows what I would order anyway if something limited is on the way, so I ...

Re: Who uses non-Sonor Hardware?

Yes, exactly. They leave some things desired. Guess that‘s why many artists play other hardware, especially pedals. My first ever double pedal was a Sonor, for that time it was sick, but the Iron Cobra I got afterwards was a game changer. Now I only play my ACD Darwins, but this is another story haha.
